Odyssey House Louisiana (OHL) is a non-profit behavioral health care provider with an emphasis on addiction treatment. OHL’s mission is provide a comprehensive continuum of care for people in Louisiana, encompassing primary care, behavioral health, and substance use disorder treatment.

Continuum of Care

It is OHL's goal to meet individuals where they are at, and address each person's individual need. As such, OHL has created a Continuum of Care where clients may access services as needed under one Agency service umbrella.

Outreach & Prevention

OHL’s Outreach and Prevention department, known as iPrevent, focuses on education, intervention, and expanding access to care. Services include educational workshops, distribution of safer sex information, harm reduction and naloxone trainings, Hepatitis C and HIV testing, and referrals to supportive services. Through interactive social media, street outreach  and community events, we aim to educate, equip, and empower our community. 

OHL also offers other intervention tools such as our Sobering Center, a 25-bed facility providing a safe, supervised space for individuals experiencing public intoxication to sober up and connect to further care if needed. This service helps reduce harm and improve safety for both clients and the community.

Low Barrier Shelter

OHL's Low Barrier Shelter in New Orleans offers immediate, no-cost housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our shelter removes common barriers, providing a safe place to sleep and basic amenities without requiring extensive documentation or sobriety.

We welcome everyone, offering compassionate care and support to help individuals stabilize and begin rebuilding their lives. Our Low Barrier Shelter is a crucial resource for the community, addressing homelessness with dignity and respect.

Intensive Inpatient & Outpatient SUD Treatment

OHL offers two levels of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. Our Intensive Inpatient Program provides approximately 28 days of on-site care in a safe, structured environment. The program intensively focuses on abstinence from substance use, life skills development, and recovery tools. Through individual and group counseling, clients and their families learn to replace destructive behaviors with constructive communication and healthy living skills.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program, currently offered only in New Orleans, lasts approximately 3 to 6 months. Clients live independently while receiving ongoing support focused on building life skills, employment readiness, and educational development. The program helps clients strengthen their recovery, build a strong support system, and prepare for long-term sobriety beyond treatment.

Housing & Case Management

OHL’s Housing Programs focus on moving individuals to stable, secure housing, and keeping these individuals housed and engaged in case management. OHL operates a network of sober living houses in New Orleans, which are structured, substance-free environments that support individuals in early recovery as they work toward long-term independence.

Medically Supported Detox

OHL's Medically Supported Detox Facility has beds available for individuals who cannot afford private detox and rehab, but who do not need the high level of care of a hospital-based detox. We utilize basic oral medications to treat symptoms of withdrawal. OHL’s Medically Supported Detox Facility is appropriate for people who have chronically used many types of substances, especially opiate pain pills, prescribed anxiety and muscle relaxing medications, alcohol, and heroin.

Primary & Behavioral Healthcare

Odyssey House Community Health Center is a patient centered medical home providing primary care that is patient-centered, comprehensive, team-based, coordinated, accessible, and focused on quality and safety.

It is the mission of the Odyssey House Community Health Center to provide comprehensive primary care services to low-income, high-risk, and underserved individuals regardless of ability to pay.
